14 Feb

How are doing with your New Year’s Resolution? Moving ahead full-steam, or, have you given up? Maybe something in-between? Have you said any of the below:

  1. “I haven’t made any progress on my New Year’s resolution.” – This response indicates a lack of motivation or effort towards achieving the resolution.
  2. “I’ve completely given up on my New Year’s resolution.” – This response suggests a loss of motivation or encountering significant obstacles that have led to abandoning the resolution.
  3. “I realized my New Year’s resolution was unrealistic.” – This response implies that the resolution was set without proper consideration of feasibility, leading to discouragement.
  4. “I keep procrastinating and haven’t started working on my New Year’s resolution.” – This response indicates a struggle with self-discipline and time management.
  5. “I’ve been inconsistent with my efforts towards my New Year’s resolution.” – This response reflects a lack of commitment and consistency in working towards the resolution.

We’ve just had Chinese New Year (February 10) – you get a second chance with that New Year’s resolution. Time to start again.

Positive Ideas to get back on track with a Chinese New Year Resolution:

  1. Reflect on the resolution: Take some time to reflect on why the resolution was important to you in the first place. Remind yourself of the potential benefits and envision how achieving it will positively impact your life.
  2. Set realistic goals: Break down the resolution into smaller, achievable goals. This makes the process less overwhelming and allows for a sense of progress and accomplishment along the way.
  3. Seek support: Share your resolution with a friend, family member, or a support group. Having someone to hold you accountable and provide encouragement can make a significant difference in staying motivated.
  4. Create a plan: Develop a specific plan of action with clear steps and deadlines. This provides structure and direction, making it easier to stay focused and track progress.
  5. Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself and remember that setbacks are a natural part of the journey. If you stumble or face challenges, don’t get discouraged. Instead, learn from the experience, adjust your approach if needed, and keep moving forward.
  6. Celebrate milestones: Acknowledge and celebrate your achievements along the way. Recognizing the progress you’ve made, no matter how small, boosts motivation and reinforces positive habits.
  7. Seek inspiration: Surround yourself with positive influences related to your resolution. Read books, follow social media accounts, or join communities that align with your goals. This can provide inspiration, ideas, and a sense of belonging.
  8. Practice self-discipline: Develop strategies to improve self-discipline, such as setting priorities, managing distractions, and creating a consistent routine. Building discipline gradually will help you stay committed to your resolution.
  9. Embrace accountability: Find a way to hold yourself accountable, whether through regular check-ins with a friend, using habit-tracking apps, or publicly sharing your progress. External accountability can provide an extra push to stay on track.
  10. Stay resilient: Remember that setbacks are not permanent failures. If you face obstacles or have setbacks, don’t give up. Stay resilient, learn from the challenges, and keep pushing forward towards your resolution.

By implementing these positive ideas and strategies, you can re-energize your efforts on a Chinese New Year Resolution and work towards it.
